Garment District + Gramercy Featured in The Beaspora

Like any great stylist, Stacie Mausbach knows her client — and in Stacie’s case, that’s the fashionable women of Omaha. “My customers are modern women who are on the go, so their style reflects that. But at the same time, they want beautiful, high quality items that will look as fresh several seasons from now as they did when they bought them.”

When Stacie first moved back to Omaha from New York in 2006, there weren’t many options to fill this niche. “There was wedding, holiday and…” she says, trailing off into the void.

But Stacie had a plan. Upon arrival, she opened The Garment District in the then-new Shops at Legacy to cater to the West Omaha shopper who was looking for something a little more sophisticated and unique than the mall offerings. Then, in 2013, she opened Gramercy in Countryside Village (now considered Omaha’s Midtown West), which she describes as a small-town in the city.

Since both stores are locally owned, shopping at them can feel like having a personal stylist. “I love getting to know my customers’ individual style and lifestyle and being able to build off of that,” says Stacie. “It’s about adding those few great pieces every season that you’ll wear over and over again.”

While most of the clothing and accessories at Gramercy and Garment District are from New York designers, Stacie has recently created the private label GCY line of casual separates. “It’s all made in the U.S.A., with vegetable dyes and sustainable materials. We also work with localized manufacturing that supports family farms and fair trade,” she says.

Like all the items in her store, it goes back to Stacie’s fashion philosophy: the most important things in a woman’s wardrobe are the ones that are meaningful, that create a memory and that make her feel good.

NAME: Stacie Mausbach. Owner of Gramercy and Garment District Omaha

Q: How Long Have You Owned Your Stores?

A: Garment District will be celebrating 10 Years this May and Gramercy turned 3 this past April.  It’s pretty amazing! I owe much of my success to my supportive family, experienced staff and incredibly loyal customers. I would never have made it this long without all of them!

Q: What made you decide to open your boutiques?

A: I lived in New York for 6 years. With New York being the fashion capital of the world, I wanted to bring a piece of my favorite city home with me. “New York Inspiration, Omaha Innovation” has always been my motto. I love New York…it truly is my inspiration, but Omaha is where my heart is. It’s where I’m from, where I live and the place I call home. It’s been an honor bringing a New York shopping experience to Omaha, Nebraska!

Q: What can you be found wearing?

A: Comfort is key. I could not live without my jeans and T’s, but this girl also likes to get dressed up for special occasions!

Q: What are some of your favorite brands?

A:
I love all the lines that we carry, but on my more casual days, my staples are Mother Denim and tops by Generation Love. For a dressier night out, you are more likely to see me in a piece by Parker!

Q: When you aren’t at the store what can you be found doing?

A: Spending time with my husband and 3 beautiful children Harper (4), Penn (6) and Ryder (8). I also enjoy traveling and could not survive without Yoga, Pilates and a great glass of vino! CHEERS TO THE NEXT 10 YEARS!
